G. Pittman and Associates is a locally owned and operated small business. New owners, Andrew and Whitney Motes and their 3 children are Florida natives who purchased this business in October 2021. Andrew has been certified to test and repair backflows for over 15 years. Whitney will be working alongside Andrew in the office, helping with the paperwork and answering any questions you may have. The Motes family strives to carry on the tradition of speedy and exceptional customer service to all our clients just as Mr. Pittman did. TESTING

The function of a backflow prevention device is to keep dirty water from pools, storm drains and other external water sources from flowing backward into clean, uncontaminated water or into your home. It also keeps any water from cross-connecting with the drinking water in your home.

INSTALLATION

To prevent backflow, most water districts are required to have a backflow prevention program and plan in place, along with backflow prevention devices, where necessary according to local plumbing and building codes. Most cities and counties in the United States require yearly testing of each water district by a certified backflow testing agency.

REPLACEMENT

If your backflow does not pass inspection we can provide will a proposal to fix the backflow. Once the backflow is repaired another test will be conducted to ensure it is in working order.

What is the purpose of a Backflow Preventor

The function of a backflow prevention device is to keep non-potable water from pools, toilets, sprinklers and other external water sources from flowing backward into clean, uncontaminated water. It also keeps any water from cross-connecting with the potable water in your home. 

Why do I need to have my backflow tested?

Most water districts are required to have a backflow prevention program and plan in place, along with backflow prevention devices, where necessary according to local plumbing and building codes. Most cities and counties in the United States require yearly testing of each water district by a certified backflow testing agency.

When will I need to know when my backflow needs to be tested?

Many municipalities require backflows to be tested annually. Most municipalities will send a letter reminding you to have your backflow tested.

What happens during a backflow test?

During the annual backflow inspection your backflow is tested to insure its proper working order. This is done by connecting a calibrated gauge to the carious test cocks attached to your backflow assembly in a particular order along with directing the flow of water through the different areas of the backflow and recording the value at which they open.

What happens if may backflow doesn't pass inspection?

If your backflow does not pass inspection the customer will be notified that it did not pass and a report will be sent to the proper water purveyor informing them of the failure. The customer will be informed of why their backflow failed and will be given a proposal to fix the backflow. Once the backflow is repaired another test will be conducted to ensure it is in working order. The new report will be sent to the water purveyor informing them of the repairs have been made and the backflow is now operational.

Do I need to be home during backflow inspection?

No, you do not need to be home to have your backflow tested. We just as that you make sure the backflow is accessible so we can complete testing.
